Two weeks left.

On Monday I had three lessons, two of which I was really looking forward to however two went spectacularly wrong and I had to abandon the lesson. Feeling deflated however every day’s a fresh start. Just 14 days left.

I can’t believe I only have two weeks left on placement now. All the goodbye and thank you gifts have been bought

Tuesday was another tough day. The kids didn’t want to be there and are ready for summer and if I’m honest so am I – I’m tired and I don’t want to take my foot off the gas but I’m finding it hard to dredge up my reserves.

I lost my temper with year 8 and was pleased with how I shouted at them. It’s been a long time coming. I’m disheartened though because tomorrow it won’t matter to them and they’ll be just as bad.

Year 10 was a better lesson because I team taught with John and while the lesson was better and the kids were better behaved it felt like a kick in the teeth because it just shows they can do it and the problem is me. Everyone keeps praising me for doing the right thing but I don’t feel like I am. My confidence has taken a knock. I hope tomorrow is better.

Wednesday was a better day. Just two classes that went well and got lots of planning done so pleased with that.

Thursday was a better day again. P1 year 10 worked really hard and John and I managed them p4. The rest of my classes were good and just one more to do tomorrow.

Friday was good. Just one lesson which went fine and got all my planning done.

Over the weekend my brother was coming again on Friday and we had a few people round to play cards and then at the weekend I just want to crack on with some more work. It all went swimmingly and I got my EOP done plus all my marking on Saturday which left Sunday free for some chilling, proofreading and perhaps some PSHE work.

The Last week – ‘Outstanding’.

Hi Everyone,

On Monday I managed to get my observed lesson plan started and sent for feedback which my CM and I discussed on Tuesday evening and I started my end of placement report form. In the evening I focused on marking year 10 mini mocks.

Tuesday was a hectic day. I managed to finish marking two sets of books and got half of my EOP form done. That needed to be finished by the end of the evening so I had all on to get that and everything else done ready for the turn around.

Wednesday was another full day but managed to get everything done I wanted to. Still, I arrived home with half a class of books to mark and the hope that I’d get the other half done on Thursday afternoon, after my triangulation meeting.

Thursday was my last day at my placement 1 school. I also had my formal observation and my triangulation meeting and I got 1: Outstanding for both. I am so over the moon! In fact I got ‘Outstanding’ for all the teaching standards apart from 4 – Plan and teach well structured lessons and 5 – Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils. So they are definitely something I need to work on however, I feel like I still need to work on all of them but needless to say I’m still over the moon with that result.

On Friday my friend Becky came. It’s the first time she’s visited my house since I moved in with my partner. We gave each other our Christmas presents – she bought me a print from one of my favourite artists Neil Simone – and we had lots of tea and cake and it was such a lovely day. We both really felt like spring is on it’s way.

Over half term I have lots to do such as tidying, filing, reading, job applications, assignment re-submissions, gardening, washing my car, washing, ironing, cooking and getting back in touch with friends – all those things that I haven’t been able to do while working. But first a rest.

This all starts on Monday this weekend I intend to read and relax and reflect and just be myself and do what I want when I want. This morning as a nice start I spotted a buzzard hunting over the fields and being mobbed by other birds. It’s been a while since I spotted anything and it’s made me feel really reassured.

Thank you so much for all of those still sticking with me. I honestly thought at Christmas that I wouldn’t finish this course or this placement but thanks to the support of my wonderful friends and family. I’ve made it this far … half way. Here’s to the next 5 months – wish me luck. No really, wish me luck!
